Line of Sight is a game term in Eldfall Chronicles.
Line of Sight (LoS) is an imaginary straight line connecting the Hitboxes of two models. It determines whether one model can see another.

To check it, draw an imaginary straight line from the edge of one model's Hitbox to the other model's Hitbox. If the line is not blocked by terrain or scenery taller than the Hitboxes, the models have Line of Sight to each other.
Line of Sight defines whether one model can see another. A model has LoS to another if it can draw at least one unobstructed straight line from a point on its own Hitbox to a point on the target's Hitbox.

Line of Sight matters constantly:

* Most Attacks and offensive Spells require LoS to the target to be declared.
* A model usually needs LoS (or Awareness) to an activating enemy in order to react (see Dodge, Attack of Opportunity).
* Some abilities ignore LoS restrictions — for example Clairvoyance lets a model react within its Awareness without LoS, while Stealth and the Shrouded State deny it.

Answers from Discord

Q: How many lines do you need to draw to establish Line of Sight?

A (meksmaks, Jun 24, 2026): You only need to draw 1 line to be considered as having LoS. The player commanding the attacking model chooses which line to draw. If you can also draw a line that passes through terrain/obstruction, apply its Cover effect accordingly.

Q: Can a model use another model (friend or foe) as Cover?

A (meksmaks, Jun 24, 2026): Models can block off LoS to one another, but they do not provide Cover per se. The Cover section begins with 'a piece of scenery' — Cover requires terrain, not models.

Q: If a model's Hitbox is only partially visible, does it have Cover?

A (meksmaks, Jun 24, 2026): If any player can draw a line between attacker and target that passes through terrain (wider and taller than the target) and the target is within 1" of that terrain, the target has Heavy Cover.

Q: Which models cannot benefit from Cover at all?

A (meksmaks, Jun 24, 2026): Models larger than Size: Large cannot get Cover.

Q: Does Cover apply if some LoS lines are clear and others pass through terrain?

A (deokel, Jun 24, 2026): You only need one unobstructed line to establish LoS. But if any player can simultaneously draw a line through terrain, Cover applies — even if another line is unobstructed. The attacking player chooses the LoS line; Cover is assessed separately from any line that passes through relevant terrain.
