Spells
Spells are a focused representation of magic: wielders channel raw mana and shape it into Spells. The act of using a Spell is called Casting, and the model casting it is the Caster. Unless stated otherwise, a model uses its INT (Intellect) when casting, and must have the matching Affinity (Element) to cast Spells of a given Element. A model can cast only one Spell at a time, and cannot cast Spells with “both hands full”.
The five types of Spells
[edit | edit source]- Sorcery
- Offensive Spells, generally used as an Attack.
- Healing
- Spells that restore HP or remove negative States, used as an Assist.
- Enchantment
- Spells that bolster or weaken a target for an extended time (until the caster's next Strategic Phase unless stated otherwise); cast only in the Active Role and not prevented by a Dodge. A model can hold only one Enchantment of the same name. If the Power is the ✩ symbol, the enchanted model's Attacks gain the “Spell” type.
- Conjuration
- Spells that summon a creature to the field (see Summoner).
- Transmutation
- Permanent Spells that affect the environment and remain until removed or destroyed; if they have an Armor value they can be Attacked and destroyed.

Frequently Asked Questions
[edit | edit source]Q: If my model is Enchanted by a Spell that has a star in the PW column, does that mean it is Attacking with INT?
A: No. It is still Attacking with the stat associated with the original means of Attack. However, the Attack has the Spell Trait for the purposes of other effects, such as Resistance (Spell).
Q: If an Enchantment Spell grants a Trait to a model, is that Trait applied to all Attacks made by that model?
A: Yes.
Q: If I have a Spell Attack with the Melee Trait, will it be affected by Shield or Masterful Parry? How about the Ranged Trait? What if the Spell has both Traits?
A: A Spell with the Melee Trait is affected by Shield and Masterful Parry. The same applies for the Ranged Trait. If the Spell has both Traits, you must choose which Trait is used when declaring the Attack.
